The Planning Process
Your future is important to us. That is why we take the essential time necessary to truly get to know you, your goals, your concerns and your needs. Through careful planning we are able to create a customized plan for you.
But having a plan is not enough these days. We also watch over your investments, monitor your progress and make adjustments along the way. Over the years we have found that an annual review of your plan is key to staying on track. Changes in tax laws, economic environments or your personal situation is inevitable. With on-going communication we make sure you continue to head towards your goals and make any adjustments that are needed.
Steps In The Financial Planning Process
STEP #1 Go to "CONTACT" and provide your information
STEP # 2 Schedule an Initial Meeting
This initial meeting typically lasts 30 to 40 minutes and there is no fee for this meeting. It is simply a time to meet and discuss your goals and concerns. We ask that you do not bring any of your financial information with you to this meeting. We simply want to listen to you and hear what you are looking for. It is important to determine if there is a fit between your needs and our abilities. This is designed for each of us to ask questions of one another. We will also provide you information about our services, our background, and how we work with existing clients. At the end of the meeting we will also provide you a brochure of information on Alexander Financial Planning, Inc. This includes general information about us, our services and our ADV Part II (Firm Brochure).
If you are interested in getting started, we can provide our Data Gathering Form at that time.
If you have spoken with one of our advisors in the past and are now ready to complete the information to get started, the following documents can be downloaded for completion.
STEP # 3 Exchange of Information
Once you decide to work with us, complete and drop-off or mail the Data Gathering Form with supporting information. At this point we review the information provided and draft a Letter of Engagement for the services to be rendered. This letter is generally mailed to you and a copy is returned to us.
STEP #4 Financial Planning Meetings
Approximately two weeks from the time the information is received, a meeting time is arranged. This begins a series of 4 to 6 meetings scheduled approximately every 2 weeks to complete the initial plan. Each meeting lasts approximately 2 hours.
STEP #5 Monitoring of Financial Plan and Annual Reviews
At the completion of the initial plan, we create a "TO DO" List broken down in quarters for the remaining first year of a financial plan. There are always things that need to be done and this keeps us on track to address items that still need to be completed.
After the first year of planning, we update the plan based on current information. This allows us to address any changes in the economic environment, tax laws, or if there is anything different in your personal life. Updates typically take two meetings and we put together a new "TO DO" List moving into each new year of a plan.
